OFSTED Inspection Report November 2007
OFSTED is the Government Office for Standards in Education. To function as a Nursery School, the setting must be registered and inspected by Ofsted, usually every three years. The Inspection is based on the 14 National Standards with which we must comply.
Our Nursery School has had an excellent report; we are very proud of our results. The report has been circulated to all parents and carers and is available on the Ofsted website.
A few excerpts:
The standards of care and nursery education are good. Children are cared for in a welcoming, child centred and secure environment and are ready to learn. Teaching and learning are good, the children concentrate well and enjoy having the freedom to choose their own activities and initiate their own play. Staff know the children extremely well and plan activities to meet individual needs. Children are very independent, mathematical development is well fostered, they learn well about their community and local environment. Children have good opportunities to develop their physical skills and to play outside in the fresh air. They enjoy weekly music and movement sessions, they go for local nature walks and there is a very good range of interesting and challenging outside play resources in the Nursery's attached garden.
Children behave very well, they are very happy and settled; they have very good support and individual attention and their achievements are continuously acknowledged and praised. The Nursery has strong partnership with parents in regard to nursery education, and strong links with the adjacent Primary School.
Organisation, leadership and management are good, the Nursery aims to provide an inclusive provision where every child matters.
