VACANCY – TILSHEAD PARISH COUNCIL
PARISH CLERK
PART TIME – 4 hours per week
Tilshead Parish Council are looking to appoint a new Clerk to commencing working from the
12 th October 2023. The village of Tilshead is situated at the southern edge of Salisbury Plain
close to Stonehenge. We are a small village of approximately 350 residents and the Parish
Council currently consists of 5 members (with two vacancies). The Council meet in the
evening on the second Tuesday of the month, except no meeting in January and August, in
Tilshead Village Hall. Attendance at additional meetings will be required on occasion.
The position is part time 4 hours per week (which will fluctuate depending on workload) and
is mostly home based. Salary for the position is in accordance with the National Joint Salary
Scale point 7-12 (calculated pro-rata with reference to the standard working week for local
government staff of 37 hours per week). Remuneration is subject to skill level and
experience.
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate excellent organisational skills, good levels
of literacy, numeracy and IT skills. A working knowledge of Parish Council and Local
Government procedures is highly desirable but not essential. Appropriate training will be
available for the right candidate.
Producing quality work with accuracy and precision is of utmost importance, as are personal
qualities of integrity, discretion, objectivity, and impartiality. Work will focus around
preparing agendas, taking minutes and providing clear guidance to Councillors before
decisions are reached and dealing with any actions arising.
As Parish Clerk you will also be responsible for general record keeping, ensuring compliance
with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and other regulations applying to Parish
Councils.
